Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 27, 2026
By choosing to use HexMath, you agree to the terms stated in this policy. We will not use or share your information except as described in this Privacy Policy.
Information We Collect
This policy covers the HexMath mobile app (Android and iOS, formerly MathBuddy) and the HexMath web app at hexmath.com (also served at mathbuddyapp.com, its former address). We collect information that you provide when setting up an account or using HexMath, including:
- Account information (email address, name) when you sign in with Apple, Google, or an email code
- Math problems you submit for solving: typed text, and photos you take with the camera or choose from your photo library. Photos are sent to our servers to read and solve the problem; we do not access your camera or photos except when you choose to scan a problem
- Purchase history for HexMath Pro (subscription status and renewal dates from Google Play or the App Store, via RevenueCat). We never see your card number
- Usage data such as number of problems solved and features used. Our analytics store only a hashed identifier for each problem, not the problem itself
- On the web app we also use Google Analytics to measure page visits and feature use. It receives no problem content, and for visitors in the EU, UK and Switzerland it runs without cookies
- Device information, app version, and crash reports for troubleshooting
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the math solving service
- To manage your account and subscription
- To respond to your support requests
- To monitor and improve accuracy and performance
Data Storage
Your math problems are processed in real time to generate solutions. We may cache problem-solution pairs to improve response times and accuracy. Cached data does not contain personally identifiable information.
Third-Party Services
HexMath uses the following third-party services:
- Apple and Google for authentication
- Google Play and the App Store for subscription billing, and RevenueCat for subscription management. RevenueCat processes purchase data on our behalf and does not use it for its own purposes
- AI processing providers for solving complex problems. Problem text and photos are sent to them only to produce a solution
- Google Analytics, on the web app only, to measure visits and feature use
We do not sell your information, do not share it with advertisers, and do not use advertising or tracking SDKs in the app.
HexMath may contain links to other sites. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. These external sites are not operated by us, and we have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.
Account Deletion and Your Data
You can delete your account and its data at any time: in the app under Settings → Delete account, or on the web at hexmath.com/account. Deletion removes your account, solve history, and usage records. Purchase records held by Google Play or Apple are governed by their policies. You can also email us to request deletion or a copy of your data.
Children's Privacy
HexMath is intended for students aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
Any changes we make to our Privacy Policy will be posted on this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically for any updates.
